Meekings awarded cup final reprieve following appeal

John Hughes, the Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager, is satisfied with the decision to rescind the red card shown to Josh Meekings and allow the defender to play in the Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen.

Meekings was dismissed in the semi-final victory over Hearts but the Scottish Football Association has overturned the decision following an appeal. Hughes also credited referee John Beaton for testifying at the appeal and admitting that he had made a mistake by showing a red card.

"I did ask if he would support us if it went to appeal," said Hughes. "He has been very honest in hindsight about what happened."
