The Livingston defender Simon Mensing reckons the problems at Rangers are similar to what is going on at Almondvale.

Both clubs have been beset by issues off the field and in the dugout this season.

Mensing and his team-mates are still getting used to John McGlynn's shock departure as manager on Tuesday and behind the scenes there is the threat of the club going bust if the former chief executive Ged Nixon is successful in suing Livingston for £311,000.

At Ibrox, manager Ally McCoist is working a 12-month notice period after handing in his resignation, and Rangers have also been plagued by their own cash flow problems. But Mensing hopes Livingston, who were also hit with a five point penalty for undeclared cash bonuses to players, can put their difficulties behind them and create a shock in Mark Burchill's first game in charge today.

He said: "Hopefully we can take advantage of the Rangers situation although they are in a similar situation to us in many aspects. In terms of league position it's different with us being at the bottom but I am looking forward to going there and hopefully we can put in a good performance and pick up some points.

"I think with everything that has gone on with us this season it has created a siege mentality. We're the players and we can't affect what goes on upstairs or outside the club. All we can do is affect results on the field. We can take things like that and use it as a spur, especially with the points deduction."
