Aaron Muirhead, the Falkirk defender, insists his new employers have what it takes to shock favourites Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final to "bring the trophy home".

The 24-year-old has already been given reason to celebrate after penning a new one-year contract to stay at the club he joined from Partick Thistle in the January transfer window.

Muirhead, however, a second-half substitute in the semi-final triumph over Hibernian, has set his sights on a fantasy ending to a campaign that looked like turning into a nightmare when he suffered a knee injury shortly after his January move.

With Peter Houston's side seeking a first Scottish Cup triumph since 1957, Muirhead is daring to dream.

"You've got to dream, haven't you?" he said. "You've got to go and believe in yourself.

"The boys have shown it before: we've beaten tough opposition in Hibs. Inverness are a good side but there's no reason why on the day we can't turn up and give a good account of ourselves and bring the trophy home.

"It's amazing to have signed a new deal and to to have a cup final to look forward to, especially after picking up the injury quite soon into my contract here.

"But if someone had offered me that at the start of it I would have bitten their hand off. My season just sums up football, the ups and downs of it.

"That's football, you just need to prepare yourself for things like that and not let it affect you when it happens. But I'm glad we're in the final and I'm signed up for another season."
