Grant Murray has been appointed player/manager at Raith Rovers, replacing the departed John McGlynn.

The 36-year-old defender, who has been a mainstay since joining the club in 2009, has signed a two-year contract extension in his new role.

Fellow Raith defender Laurie Ellis has been appointed first-team coach. McGlynn's assistant Paul Smith, who has been acting as interim manager in recent days, will continue as Murray's No.2.

"There is no doubt he is the correct man," said Turnbull Hutton, the Raith chairman. "Laurie Ellis making the step to first-team coach is also an exciting move. Both he and Grant are fully qualified."
