GARY NAYSMITH is ready to end his 12-year exile from Scottish football and sign for Aberdeen for the new season.

The Scotland internationalist has joined the Pittodrie side on loan, coming on as a substitute in a 12-0 pre-season win over Vfl Bochum on Saturday.

Goals from Scott Vernon, Peter Pawlett, Gavin Rae, Rory Fallon, Rob Milsom, Joe Shaughnessy, Ryan Jack, Niall McGinn and Mitch Megginson earned an easy win against the German amatuer side.

Naysmith, who is a free agent after leaving Huddersfield Town, also impressed and he admitted he is open to discussing a contract with former Scotland manager Craig Brown to join Aberdeen.

"There are a few offers there for me but a Aberdeen is the one which I am most interested in," said the left-back. "I've been away from Scottish football for 12 years so if I come back it will be like a fresh challenge again but I am under no illusions. Craig hasn't promised me anything so we will just have to wait and see what happens."
