FORMER Celtic manager Neil Lennon has dismissed Aberdeen's prospects of lasting the course in the SPFL Premiership title race.

Lennon's team won the league by 29 points last season and despite the fact Aberdeen could go top again if they beat St Johnstone in Perth tonight, he did not expect the Dons to sustain their challenge for the rest of the season.

Celtic are currently top of the table, one point above Aberdeen and with a game in hand. But when asked if he found the Celtic-Aberdeen contest interesting, Bolton manager Lennon said: "Not really. I think Celtic will come strong. They have the pedigree, although I have to say eight wins in a row from Aberdeen was fantastic consistency.

"I thought they wouldn't be as strong as they were last year but Derek [McInnes] is doing great things there with a limited squad. But I think Celtic eventually should pull away with the quality and depth they have."
