Neilson puts place in Hampden folklore down to spot luck

THE Dundee United side which won the Scottish Cup in 2010 may have been sprinkled to the wind in the last few years, but Robbie Neilson has his own cup heritage to speak of.

The full-back's contribution to Hearts' 2006 final victory over Gretna may not be one of the more memorable moments in the competition's illustrious history, but it certainly hasn't been forgotten down Gorgie way.

Had he not volunteered to hit only his second senior penalty kick in the shoot-out and make a goal-saving challenge on Gretna's David Graham, it may quite well have been the now defunct Borders side's name on the trophy.
