East Fife have completed the signing of former Hearts and Scotland defender Robbie Neilson.

The 33-year-old, who turned out as a trialist in the recent 5-0 defeat by Rangers, has been recruited by the ambitious League One side as a player-coach and will remain at Bayview until the end of the season.

While the former Leicester City and Dundee United full-back joins former Tynecastle team-mates Gary Naysmith and Christian Nade at the club, the Methil outfit have announced that assistant manager Kevin Drinkell has quit the club "for football reasons".

The former Rangers striker is now expected to return to his job as a football agent, a role East Fife recognised as being beneficial when manager Willie Aitchison was revamping the squad this summer.
