Jo Inge Berget feared his name might not even figure in Cardiff's team list to play the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth in the English Championship.

Now, the 23-year-old could be included in the Celtic team that takes on Legia Warsaw in tonight's Champions League qualifier in Poland. Having just started his six-month loan deal on Monday, he realises it might be pushing things to expect to be included in tonight's line-up, but manager Ronny Deila did not rule it out.

"It's not bad to maybe get a debut in the Champions League qualification, so I hope I can make a contribution,"said Berget.

Deila already knows all about him, having been his manager for 18 months at Stromsgosdet after the then teenager's attempt to make it with Udinese faltered.

Berget reflected: "I was at Udinese when I was 17; I wasn't ready for it."

Cardiff has also been a huge learning curve for the forward, but now he wants to play. He said: "This chance has come up and I hope I can show everyone I'm as good as I think I am."
