Norwich City last night sacked manager Chris Hughton and his backroom staff - including former Scotland defender Colin Calderwood - after consecutive defeats left the club in a relegation dogfight in the Barclays Premier League.

A home defeat by West Bromwich Albion on Saturday compelled the Norwich board to act. Neil Adams - the former Norwich winger and erstwhile youth team coach - has been appointed as Hughton's successor. He takes charge of a team just five points clear of the relegation places.
