Alloa's stand-in manager Paddy Connolly is telling his players to enjoy facing up to Rangers in the Championship as the Ibrox men will undoubtedly end up back in the top division at some stage.

Connolly said: "Rangers will be back in the Premiership and it could be next season so we should be looking to enjoy this game and playing in a big venue. We did that earlier on in the season and got a 1-1 draw and that will be our approach again.

"I played against Stuart McCall many times when he was part of a strong Rangers squad and no doubt he will build a competitive side there but this is a game to be enjoyed."

Connolly added: "The games between the teams this season have been tight with only ever one goal separating us and a couple of draws so we can go there and be confident. If Rangers are promoted some of more players may not get the chance to play at Ibrox again in the league so I will be looking for them to go there and be positive."

Connolly lost his first game in charge following Barry Smith's resignation, 3-1 to Falkirk at the weekend, but he saw enough to be upbeat about taking something home from Govan tonight.

The Indodrill Stadium assistant manager said: "I thought we played well and when the game was 1-1 we were the better side. However we made uncharacteristic mistakes that let Falkirk in and we were punished. If we play like that again but tidy up defensively then we can do well at Rangers."

Connolly is unsure if this will be his last game in charge as he explained: "I am doing things on a game by game basis. Management is a bit more intense than being an assistant and I could well still be in charge come Saturday. It is just a case of wait and see."

Greig Spence will miss out for the Wasps as a result of the eye injury he picked up at the weekend with Stephen Simmons and David Weatherston also ruled out with knocks.
