FALKIRK have agreed a new deal with Peter Grant to hang on to the defender until 2017.

The 20-year-old - son of the former Celtic midfielder of the same name - had agreed a pre-contract to join the Bairns from Norwich City before manager Gary Holt returned to the Canaries last summer to be replaced by Peter Houston.

Houston honoured the agreement and was eventually won over by some impressive displays from Grant, who is now regarded a mainstay of his defence.

The former Norwich City trainee's initial contract was due to expire at the end of the season but that has now been extended by another two years.

Houston said: "I am delighted that Peter has signed on for a further period at the club.

"He hadn't played a lot of first-team games when he came here but he has worked hard at his game and forced his way into the team to become a regular.

"There's no doubt he has a bright future at Falkirk."
