IF any of this Peterhead side are still not aware of what sort of occasion they are in for tomorrow then they will be by 4.45pm today.

The Balmoor side will face East Fife in the second, decisive leg of their play-off for a place in the Irn-Bru Second Division next season, but will prepare by today taking in the match which will decide the Highland League title.

The part-time side will be assembled in full this morning ahead of a training session and will then take in the Highland League fixture between Formartine United and Cove Rangers. Since that match resembles something of a championship play-off, it will offer good insight into the sort of pressure Peterhead can expect against East Fife – with the tie still 0-0 after the first leg.

"The boys from the west are coming up for it and they will stay overnight so it is a great opportunity for everyone to bond before our game," said Jim McInally, the Peterhead manager. "The Highland League decider is a cup final-type game and I am sure the players will see things that will happen in our cup final-type game on Sunday. Despite a bit of fatigue in both camps there will be no lack of effort."

A bit of fatigue and a ban will keep defender Ryan Strachan out, while East Fife will also have to make do without defender Darren McCormack and striker Gareth Wardlaw. It is a cause of disappointment for Billy Brown, although the East Fife manager is focused on ending a remarkable year in his career by avoiding relegation.

"A year ago I was with Hibs in the Scottish Cup final and now I am in a cup final of a very different kind," he said. "It has been a strange year."
