Dunfermline Athletic's miserable summer continued as they tumbled out of the Ramsdens Cup at the first hurdle, 3-2 at the hands of Forfar Athletic.

Gavin Swankie's 66th-minute strike proved to be the winner after Dunfermline, who saw Dundee given Rangers' SPL berth, toiled to get to grips with the Irn-Bru Second Division side.

Omar Kader gave Forfar an early lead only for Ryan Wallace to equalise from Joe Cardle's pass. Andy Barrowman put Dunfermline ahead late in the first half but Forfar came back through Danny Denholm and then Swankie.
