BILEL MOHSNI is close to shipping out of Rangers to join German club SC Freiburg.
The Tunisian internationalist's representatives have been in talks with the Bundesliga side over the course of the last few days and sources state that he is set to agree terms over a transfer at the end of the season.
Mohsni is one of 12 players out of contract at the Ibrox club this summer and is likely to be the first of many to leave.
Rangers still do not know which league they will be playing in next season as they prepare to meet Queen of the South in the quarter-final of the SPFL Premiership play-off at Palmerston Park this Saturday while the manager, Stuart McCall, is yet to be told if he will even still be in charge beyond the summer.
Mohsni has found his first-team opportunities limited in recent times and it is understood that he is keen to make a fresh start after two years in Glasgow.
The one-time Southend United centre-back was signed by the former Rangers boss, Ally McCoist, following a successful trial spell and played a major part in helping the club cruise to the League One title.
However, McCall had words with the player over his fiery temperament earlier this season and he has not played since a 3-0 loss away to Queen of the South on league duty on April 9.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
