JOHN BROWN, who has been a constant and vociferous critic of those in charge of Rangers since the financial catastrophe of 2012, believes it is the club's finest hour now that Dave King and his allies are on the verge of assuming control.
The former Rangers defender, who played in a blue shirt as if his life depended on it, is unequivocal in terms of the magnitude of the meaning of King's impending success.
He said: "This is the biggest day in the club's history. This is a momentous day and every Rangers fan has to get right behind the new board.
"You talk about Barcelona 1972 and other periods in the club's history but in my eyes this tops them all.
"We need to appreciate this day is and every Rangers fan worldwide needs to get behind the board, who are all Rangers men, and support them.
"From now to the end of the season I would be saying to every Rangers fan - let's fill the stadium.
"The team has been suffering but now there can be no excuses about the control of the club.
"It's all about winning the play-offs and getting back to the Premiership and everyone can put their energies into that rather than protesting against the board.
"The directors will have to deal with carnage, I imagine, once they get in the door but the fans and, of course, the players can do their part now with a common goal."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.Â
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.Â
That is invaluable.Â
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
