Real Madrid to rest players ahead of El Clasico

Real Madrid will be without Karim Benzema for tonight's Champions League game at home to Schalke 04 but he should be fit for Sunday's league hosting of Barcelona.

France forward Benzema took a knock to the thigh in Saturday's 1-0 victory at Malaga and had to be replaced by Angel Di Maria. "He is recovering," said Ancelotti, who will rest players for the last-16 second leg, where Real start with a 6-1 advantage.

"He cannot play tomorrow but we are confident he will be able to recover for Sunday."

Schalke 04 will be without winger Jefferson Farfan and striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is doubtful.
