Under the new proposals being considered, it will get stretched from 10 to 12 teams and then split midway through the campaign, sending four teams to join up with four from the top division, and leaving the other eight to try to stave off relegation. Given how competitive it is at the top and bottom this season they should just leave it as it is. This match pitted top versus second bottom, although you would struggle to pick out which was which. Come full-time, Airdrie had their first win since late October and only their fourth of the campaign, while Dunfermline's hopes of returning to the Scottish Premier League – or whatever it might be called by then – at the first attempt took another dunt.
