Richard Foster has sealed his return to Rangers after agreeing a two-year-deal.

The full-back has been released from his contract with Bristol City and will be registered with the Irn-Bru Third Division champions on September 1.

Foster previously spent the 2010/11 campaign on loan at Ibrox while contracted to Aberdeen.

He becomes the latest player to pledge his future to Rangers, with Cammy Bell, Nicky Law, Jon Daly, Nicky Clark, Steven Smith and Arnold Peralta already on board.

A transfer embargo means the Light Blues must wait until September to register players, who must be free agents.

A statement on the club's website read: "Foster arguably gave his best performances for Rangers on the European stage as he featured both in the Champions League and the Europa League at right wing-back.

"In total, he made 24 appearances which he will now add to as the forthcoming Second Division campaign progresses.

"The 27-year-old, who had been the Dons' captain after he returned to Pittodrie from Ibrox and prior to his January 2012 move to Ashton Gate, arrived in Glasgow yesterday.

"And he is expected to meet his new team-mates for training at Murray Park as he comes back to the team he grew up supporting on a permanent basis.

"During his time in England, Foster had 50 league outings for the Robins and one more in the League Cup.

"One game short of 350 competitive career matches, he brings a great deal of experience with him and is likely to be a regular starter in the months ahead."
