Dunfermline Athletic and Alloa Athletic and both keen to end Derek Riordan's exile from football.

The 30-year-old is still looking for a new club after his departure from Bristol Rovers 11 months ago but has been training with ambitious SPFL Championship side Alloa this week.

"Derek just wants to play again because he's missing the game," said Paul Hartley, the Alloa manager. "I would definitely be interested in him but it just depends on how long it's going to take him to get back to a reasonable level of fitness."

SPFL League 1 club Dunfermline are monitoring the situation, too, with Jim Jefferies eager to add experience when the club's transfer embargo is lifted on December 31. "We spoke to him but there's no point in him coming to train. But if he was coming with a view to a deal that would be different."
