JACK RODWELL has set his sights on securing an England place after completing his move to Sunderland, admitting missing the World Cup left "a bitter taste" in his mouth.

The 23-year-old midfielder has moved from Manchester City on a five-year deal for a potential £10m, in a bid to resurrect his career.

"The last couple of seasons I have not played nearly enough football as I have wanted to play," he said.

"Regular football is the most important thing for me."
