Tom Rogic has suffered a recurrence of a groin injury and is not expected to play again this season.

The Celtic midfielder, who has been on loan to Australian side Melbourne Victory since January, had just returned from a two-week absence due to the problem but limped off after just 39 minutes of a league match with Newcastle Jets last weekend.

Victory intend to wait until they have received the results of a scan before commenting on the injury officially but it is understood that Rogic is unlikely to recover before his loan expires next month.

The injury could affect the midfielder's prospects of playing in the World Cup this summer, with concerns having been raised already during a loan move beset by injuries. Rogic has played just eight times for Victory.
