Saints lose Cregg appeal

St Johnstone have lost their appeal against Patrick Cregg's quickfire red card.

Saints appealed after the Irish midfielder was sent off for a challenge on Paul Cairney seconds after coming off the bench during his team's goalless draw with Hibernian on December 21.

But the wrongful dismissal claim has been rejected by a Scottish Football Association disciplinary tribunal.

Cregg will miss his team's Scottish Premiership fixtures with Motherwell on New Year's Day and Ross County on Sunday.
