MARTIN O'NEILL plans to turn to a Scotsman for help to revive the Republic of Ireland's fortunes as the two countries prepare to lock horns in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

The former Celtic manager hopes to recruit his long-term colleague John Robertson - who spent 16 years with O'Neill as a scout and assistant - to help him to unearth fresh talent capable of making the step up to international level.

"I'm having a serious think about it," admitted Robertson.
