Scotland have dropped three places in the latest FIFA rankings despite their fine 1-0 win in Poland They now lie in 37th place but this is largely due to other nations playing more games before the Scots' triumph in Warsaw.

Next month's rankings will provide a more accurate reflection of Gordon Strachan's side's recent form - the national team are on a five-match unbeaten run - and will likely see Scotland enter the top 25 for the first time since August 2009.

The Republic of Ireland, Scotland's Euro 2016 qualification rivals, remain in the doldrums and have registered their lowest placing since the rankings were introduced in 1992, slumping to 68th, after their recent defeat by Serbia.
