MIDFIELDER Scott Agnew has followed manager Ian Murray to St Mirren from Dumbarton after signing a one-year deal.

Former Rangers trainee Agnew featured in all of Dumbarton's 40 matches under Murray last season and made a total of 146 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals.

Agnew, who has also played for Hamilton, Alloa, Ayr United and Stranraer, is thrilled to have been given the chance to link up with Murray.

He said: "I am delighted to have signed for St Mirren. I had a few offers from other Championship clubs, both full-time and part-time.

"But the possibility of coming to St Mirren with the facilities the club have and to follow my old gaffer to Paisley was one I couldn't refuse."

Murray is adamant Agnew has the quality to help St Mirren try to bounce straight back to the Premiership.

He said: "Scott was a player we had earmarked early on that could come to St Mirren. He knows the Championship well having played in this league for the past three seasons.

"Scott has the quality to step up to full-time football and do well at St Mirren."
