It was both a moment that some will want to see again and again, and which others had grown sick immediately.

It involved Raith Rovers, Dundee and a lapse in concentration as the Fife side progressed to the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup to make the most of a farcical own goal on Saturday.

The incident - which is sure to become a YouTube favourite - which sealed Raith's victory came when Kyle Letheren, the Dundee goalkeeper, went walkabout in his box as his unsuspecting team-mate Gary Irvine rolled a pass gently into an unguarded net.

"It was a shocking goal to lose," said John Brown, the Dundee manager. "The keeper has an eagerness to come off his line at times and there have been a few problems between him and the defence. It's a bitter pill to swallow to go out the cup in such a way."

The draw between Dunfermline Athletic and Ayr United also comprised some contention since Ross Millen scored for the Fife side to deny his father Andy - now assistant manager at Ayr - a route into the next round. "I loved watching my dad here and I was the mascot quite a few times when I was a kid," said Millen.

Bryan Prunty has never once played in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup, though. But that will surely change this season after the striker scored to help Dumbarton to a 3-1 win over Berwick Rangers. It took the aid of two goals from Ross McNeil to stop Highland League side Fraserburgh as Stenhousemuir pulled rank with a 3-0 win, while Alloa Athletic were too strong for 10-man Stirling Albion. Clyde and Stranraer will require a replay after a 1-1 draw.

The match between Brechin City and Forfar Athletic also ended with the club's needing to go at it again in a replay, although perhaps with a little less force since both sides had players sent off. Mark Baxter was dismissed for Forfar in injury time after gesturing at the opposition dugout.

It was all a little more peaceable in SPFL League 2, as the match between Peterhead and Montrose ended with the former going top. Queen's Park were denied their second win of the season, though, after a draw with Elgin City.
