LAWRENCE SHANKLAND, the new Dunfermline striker, admits he is inspired by former team-mate Andrew Robertson's dramatic ascent from Queen's Park to Barclays Premier League target.

Shankland played alongside the left-back at Queen's last season before the duo made their respective moves to Aberdeen and Dundee United in the summer.

Robertson's outstanding form at Tannadice has led to him being linked with life-changing moves to Everton and Swansea, and Shankland, who joined Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season, wants to follow in the defender's footsteps.

"Seeing how well Andrew has done does inspire you," he said. "He's a year older than me, so it makes me more confident about next year and what I can achieve. Hopefully, I can score a few goals and see what happens."
