Shiels' anger

KENNY Shiels yesterday delivered a scathing appraisal of Everton's acquisition of Kilmarnock teenager Matthew Kennedy for £200,000 as the transfer window closed.

The Rugby Park manager suggested after his side's draw at Ross County that the fee made the deal tantamount to daylight robbery.

"Dick\ Turpin\ wore\ a\ mask\ –\ it\ was\ one\ of\ those,"\ Shiels\ said.\ "They\ have\ been\ very\ disrespectful\ to\ our\ club\ They\ had\ received\ £16\ or\ £20\ million\ \[from\ the\ sale\ of\ Jack\ Rodwell\ to\ Manchester\ City\]\ and\ they\ \[initially\\ offered\ £100,000.\ What\ do\ they\ think\ we\ are?\ It's\ unbelievable\ what\ Everton\ have\ done,\ total\ extortion."
