Morton made it seven matches without defeat with a 3-1 win at Peterhead to keep the pressure on leaders Stranraer.
Peterhead dominated the first half but could not find a way past Derek Gaston.
The goalkeeper was eventually beaten when Andy Rodgers netted from the penalty spot early in the second half but Morton responded swiftly through Declan McManus.
McManus scored a second late on and then set up the third for Ross Caldwell in the final minute.
Stranraer overwhelmed tten-man Dunfermline 5-1 at Stair Park to keep their one-point advantage at the top.

them in front but Andy Geggan equalised when he headed home a free-kick.
Gregor Buchanan was sent off for a challenge on Jamie Longworth shortly afterwards and Stranraer took full advantage.
Chris Aitken and Willie Gibson scored before half-time and Longworth and Jon McShane added further goals.
Forfar Athletic lost ground after a 1-0 defeat at Ayr United, Jordan Preston scoring the only goal ten-minutes from half-time.
Darren Dods almost equalised at the death but David Hutton kept him out and secured the three points.
Andy Jackson and Paul McLean scored as Brechin City beat Stenhousemuir 2-1.
Colin McMenamin had given Stenhousemuir a shock lead after only three minutes, his 13th of the campaign but Brechin hit back for victory.
Airdrieonians beat Stirling Albion 4-1 but also fell behind to an early strike.
Ross McGeachie scrambled an early goal for Stirling after Lewis Coult's header had struck the post.
Phil Johnston should have added a second but shot wide but Airdrie drew level through Bryan Prunty's 58th-minute penalty and, a minute later, Jim Lister made it 2-1.
Lister made it 3-1 in the second half before Prunty also added his second goal as Stirling wilted.
