Arbroath cling to top spot in League Two on goal difference after faltering to a 1-1 draw against East Fife at Gayfield.
Following a costly error by East Fife goalkeeper Jordan Millar, Simon Murray pounced to score Arbroath's opener in the 36th minute.
However, the league leaders tellingly failed to add a second despite decent pressure and, with six minutes remaining, Jonathan Page prodded home from point-blank range after an almighty scramble to rescue a point for Gary Naysmith's visitors.
That setback for Arbroath allowed Albion Rovers to move level on points at the summit as the Coatbridge side overcame fellow promotion hopefuls Queen's Park 2-1.
Scott Chaplain headed Rovers into a 17th minute lead and soon the visitors were reduced to ten men when Bryan Wharton was shown a second yellow card.
Queen's Park showed impressive resilience though and levelled shortly after half-time through John Carter's header from a Darren Miller free-kick.
However, in the 52nd minute, Rovers restored their lead when Gary Phillips headed home what proved to be a valuable winner for Darren Young's men.
Elgin City's resurgence under Jim Weir continued as they climbed off bottom spot courtesy of a 2-0 win over ten-man Berwick Rangers at Shielfield.
John Fairburn was ordered off for the hosts in the 31st minute for a professional foul and Elgin took full advantage of their numerical superiority.
After Devon Jacobs fouled in the penalty box, Archie MacPhee tucked away Elgin's penalty opener in the 70th minute before Daniel Moore broke away to add a second in stoppage time.
East Stirling replace Elgin at the foot of League Two as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Clyde at Ochilview.
After an insipid opening period, Stephen O'Donnell fired Clyde into the lead after 53 minutes.
Neil McCabe soon equalised for Shire with a neat finish in the 61st minute but Clyde regained the lead and sealed the point with Scott McManus scoring a composed 80th minute winner.
Montrose came from behind to earn a sorely needed 2-1 win over Annan Athletic at Links Park.
Robin Omar powered Annan into a 63rd minute lead only for parity to be restored quickly through Alex Mitchell's unfortunate own goal before Garry Wood slotted home Montrose's winner in the 66th minute.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
