Tommy Wright, the St Johnstone manager, last night denied that Rotherham United have made a bid for Scotland Under-21 forward Stevie May.

The 21-year-old had reportedly been the subject of a fee considered to be a record for the Sky Bet League One club.

Wright was adamant that no offer had been made, though, although he did acknowledge that he had spoken to Steve Evans, the Rotherham manager. "We have had no bid for Stevie," said Wright. "I had a conversation with [Evans] but there has been no offer."

There have been offers for David Robertson, though, with the midfielder expected to go on loan to the SPFL Championship as he strives to gain a new contract in Perth. He has not played a match for the first team since breaking a leg a year ago.
