The 29-year-old has been sidelined since damaging medial knee ligaments in his side's 1-0 Edinburgh derby win over rivals Hibernian on August 11. The news that Stevenson had not injured his cruciate ligaments came as a relief to manager Gary Locke, but it was still feared the former Chelsea trainee could be missing for up to 12 weeks.
However, as Stevenson prepares to have his knee brace removed next week, Locke is increasingly optimistic one of his most important and experienced players could be back in action in as little as three weeks' time.
"He tells me he's a quick healer," revealed Locke. "As soon as we get the brace off, we'll have a better idea. Then we will know how far away he'll be once he starts moving the leg again. Hopefully, his knee will feel fine and everything is okay and we can crack on with him."
