Stimac criticises 'hooligans' who jeered Croatia midfielder

Igor Stimac, the Croatia coach, has issued a fierce rebuke of the "hooligan" element of his national side's supporters who jeered the debut of Brazilian-born Sammir in a win over Macedonia last Friday.

Croatia fans do not believe the Dinamo Zagreb midfielder should be allowed to play for the country, despite the fact he holds a Croatian passport.

"These hooligans are regarded as some kind of heroes," said Stimac. "They are a destructive influence, but I won't let them succeed."
