James Morrison, the Scotland midfielder, has extolled the impact made by Gordon Strachan since he took charge of the national side, with the Scots collecting four points from their last two European Championship qualifying matches.

However, Morrison maintains that the players are wary of getting on the wrong side of their coach.

Since taking the Scotland job in January last year, Strachan has acted to revitalise the fortunes and feeling around the side. A compelling draw in Warsaw earlier this month is a highlight of his reign so far.

Morrison acknowledged that the 57-year-old is earning the praise from supporters due to his assiduous work in training. "Gordon has worked tirelessly on the training pitch, so it is easy to take into a match," said the West Bromwich Albion player.

"Gordon drums it in to get into the box. But you do not want to get on the wrong side of him. I think he has just simplified the training and not tried to over-cook it. We know our jobs and know what to do with the ball and where we need to be without the ball. We are hard to beat. We are always in the game. It's as simple as that."

Scotland will continue their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign against the republic of Ireland next month and Morrison is confident that his side can secure another precious win.

"There is a lot at stake this time but if we dominate the home area we can win," he added. "We are picking up points in a tough group and we believe that we can qualify."
