Gordon Strachan will include Rangers defender Lee Wallace when he names his first squad as Scotland manager today, writes Michael Grant.

Wallace will be selected for next week's friendly against Estonia despite previous controversy over Rangers players being picked while the club is in the Irn-Bru third division.

Strachan has decided he needs the option of Wallace at left-back and the 25-year-old will be in the squad announced at a noon press conference in Aberdeen today, ahead of next Wednesday's fixture at Pittodrie. Wallace last played for his country in the 5-1 friendly defeat in the USA last May.

Previous national team manager Craig Levein had said it would be difficult to select players while they were in the bottom tier of Scottish football but then picked Ian Black and gave him a debut against Australia in August. No Rangers player has been selected for Scotland in the five international matches since then.
