Alan Stubbs insists he is already "over" his Edinburgh derby disappointment and has urged his Hibernian players to book a trip to Hampden to prove they are too.

It is 23 years ago this week since the Easter Road club won the League Cup, with 1991's triumph over Dunfermline following up their success against Celtic in 1972 and preceding their victory over Kilmarnock seven years ago.

Stubbs is aware his team faces a formidable task in trying to defeat Dundee United in this evening's quarter-final, but he believes opposite number Jackie McNamara will have departed after watching Sunday's 1-1 draw with Hearts also preparing for a tough tie in the capital.

Hibs looked poised to earn a morale-boosting win against their city rivals until Alim Ozturk's incredible 40-yard equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time. However, Stubbs, who will be without on-loan Celtic midfielder Dylan McGeouch because of his red card in the previous round against Ross County, claims he has already moved on from that late and unexpected blow and has set his sights firmly on reaching his first semi-final in management.

He said: "I'm over Sunday, I really am. I can't do anything about it. The only time I can do anything about Sunday is in January, when the next game [against Hearts] is.

"But this is my next game and I have told the players they have a great opportunity to book themselves a place at Hampden.

"It's not going to be easy. It's going to be our hardest game of the season, but we are up for it. Sunday has given us a lot of confidence again. We are making steps in the right direction and we have the makings of a not bad team."
