MALMO defender Erik Johansson has vowed to put talk of a summer transfer to Celtic on the backburner until after Sweden's European Championship qualifying match with Montenegro.

The 26-year-old centre-back has come to the attention of the SPFL Premiership champions in recent months with speculation growing in his homeland that a concrete proposal is in the pipeline.

Celtic have just signed Dedryck Boyata from Manchester City with Jason Denayer heading in the opposite direction following the conclusion of a successful loan spell, but doubts remain over the future of Virgil van Dijk as he waits to discover whether interest from England crystallises into a substantial offer.

Johansson is under contract at Malmo until next year and can boast Champions League experience from last season in addition to being named the Swedish top division's 'Defender of the Year'.

Malmo meet Gefle in the league tonight (Wednesday) before hosting Djurgarden at the weekend with Johansson then scheduled to join up with Erik Hamren's national squad for a friendly with Norway and that meeting with Montenegro in Stockholm on June 14.

"I don't have much to say," said Johansson when asked about a prospective move to the SPFL Premiership champions.

"It's not something I need to put energy into here and now. I have two matches with Malmö and then it's the international break. That's where my thoughts are."

Deila is actively involved in trying to strengthen his squad ahead of next month's Champions League qualifying rounds with approaches having already been made for the Willem II defender Mitchell Dijks, who is capable of playing at left-back and in the centre.

Dijks is also wanted by Ajax and Feyenoord and is now on holiday to consider his future.

Deila has also been busy while back in his native Norway, holding a seminar in the city of Sandnes on Tuesday evening, which attracted 140 coaches from the region.

He also staged special training sessions with local boys' and girls' teams

The event was lined up by Deila's former team-mate at Viking Stavanger, Øyvind Svenning, who now coaches for Sandved FC.

"Ronny was very positive about this and it was not hard to get a yes from him," said Svenning.

Meanwhile, Brondby have sent Holmbert Fridjonsson back to Celtic following the end of his loan spell. The Icelandic forward scored twice in 14 appearances.

It is understood, however, that the Danish side are keen to strike a permanent deal for fellow Celtic striker, Teemu Pukki, who signed a loan deal in Copenhagen with an option to buy back last September.

"He has enjoyed his time with Brøndby and he really likes the club," said Pukki's agent Teemu Turunen. "However, the situation is that we do not know what Celtic will do. He has a contract with Celtic, so they will determine what should be done."
