Teemu Pukki hits hat-trick as Celtic claim 5-2 friendly victory in Austria

Teemu Pukki continued to stake a claim for a starting place in Celtic's opening Champions League qualifier as he hit a hat-trick in a 5-2 friendly victory over LASK Linz.

The Finland striker continued where he left off after coming off the bench to net Celtic's equaliser in their draw against Rapid Vienna on Sunday.

Pukki, a largely peripheral figure in Celtic's team last season, levelled before and after the break for a youthful Celtic team, firstly emphatically converting a Leigh Griffiths cross and then finishing off an Adam Matthews cutback moments after some poor defending from a corner had allowed the Austrian side to go 2-1 up.

Pukki grabbed his hat-trick in the 64th minute before teenage midfielder Liam Henderson was harshly sent off after being shown a second yellow card for dissent, for complaining when the award of a throw-in went against him.

Celtic coped comfortably with the man disadvantage and good work from Dylan McGeouch set up Amido Balde before Griffiths made it five late on.
