BERWICK 1

A GOAL and an assist from Stefan Scougall inspired Livingston to a place in the Ramsdens Cup semi-finals, defeating a rugged Berwick Rangers side 2-1, writes Alan Temple.

The 18-year-old came of age in the heart of a tough midfield battle, dictating the play and displaying moments of inspiration as well as buckets of perspiration in a super individual performance.

“I’m delighted to score my first goal for the club,” he said. “I’ve come through the youth ranks here and got my chance quite quickly. I’ve had a couple of injuries, but I’m now getting regular opportunities and looking to take them.”

Livingston were ahead after just 12 minutes, as Iain Russell surged past a couple of listless challenges before cutting the ball back for Scougall to slot in his first goal for the club.

Berwick had an equaliser five minutes after the break; a sumptuous Kevin McDonald corner flashing past Andy McNeil. However, it would be a temporary reprieve, as Scougall sent a pass to Russell, who turned in a shot from point-blank range.
