Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini lamented his side's finishing after they overcame a lacklustre display in front of goal to eventually see off QPR 3-1.

City only had a Yaya Toure strike to show for their dominance when Bobby Zamora stunned the champions with a 59th-minute equaliser against the run of play. City's response was to go back ahead almost immediately, with Edin Dzeko heading home, and while Carlos Tevez added a third in injury time Mancini was unimpressed.

"I think we played well in the first half, but we have one problem at the moment – when we have a chance to score we don't score and the game can change," he said. "We were too slow but in the end it's important that we took three points."Zamora's goal meant City have still to keep a clean sheet – a hallmark of their title run last season – although skipper Vincent Kompany is unconcerned for now."No it doesn't matter. We've always proved to be solid come difficult times," he said. "Come December, January and February we'll show it. At this time everyone tries to play the game nicely. We left ourselves exposed but at the end of the season we won't do that."City, watched by Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho ahead of their Champions League meeting, soon established control with Toure bossing the midfield.It seemed inevitable they would take the lead and their opener came in the 16th minute as Tevez saw an effort blocked from yet another corner but Toure followed up to thump home. Robert Green got a hand to it but could do little on what was shaping up to be a difficult afternoon for him.City returned for the second half with much the same approach as the first and threatened a second straight from the restart as Tevez drilled an awkward shot at Green.The tireless Pablo Zabaleta went even closer as he took a fine pass from David Silva and curled an effort on to the bar.Yet as much as City were dominant, recent history threatened to repeat itself as QPR levelled against the run of play just before the hour.Andrew Johnson stole possession outside the area and forced a good save from Joe Hart with a deflected shot. Hart could not re-gather quickly enough and Zamora stole in to head home.City swiftly moved back up the field and Tevez did well to keep the ball in play and cross for Dzeko to head home at close range.City wrapped up the job in injury time as Tevez, moving back into an onside position, diverted the ball home from Dzeko's shot.After apparently being told off for lifting his shirt in recent weeks, he kept it down this time.
