TOMMY Wright, the St Johnstone manager, is convinced that his stuttering side are capable of turning their fortunes around this season.

The Perth side suffered a fifth successive league defeat when Kilmarnock triumphed 2-1 in Perth on Saturday. Wright has acknowledged that the form shown by his side pales when compared to the performances which bright them Scottish Cup success last season, but his management philosophy remains the same.

"I am doing my job just the same as I did last season," he said. "The most important thing for me is getting into work. The players know I am hurting but I can't afford to be down and let previous results affect us or there won't be an improvement."
