RAY McKINNON reckons tomorrow's League Cup semi-final between his two former clubs, Dundee United and Aberdeen, will provide the most exciting and entertaining 90 minutes of the season.
The Brechin City boss still keeps a close eye on both sides and has total admiration for the way Jackie McNamara and Derek McInnes encourage their players to play the game in the right manner.
That's why he thinks everyone at Hampden is in for a treat and said: "When you throw everything into the mix, this game has all the ingredients to be an absolute cracker.
"In terms of football, it could be a classic. The fans must be really looking forward to this game and so they should be. One thing I'm certain about is that it will not be a 0-0. There will be plenty of goals.
"It's a one-off Cup tie and the chance to take one step closer to wining s piece of silverware. Aberdeen are the holders and want to keep a grip of the Cup and Dundee United will still be looking to make amends for losing the Scottish Cup Final last season.
"Derek McInnes and his staff get the best out of their players. They have nurtured their youngsters very well and it's great to see Cammy Smith, Ryan Jack, Peter Pawlett and Lawrence Shankland doing so well. They all have the ability and mentality to light up any game on any occasion.
"Derek has made sure they've built from a solid foundation and they pride themselves on clean sheets.
"But they'll do well not to concede on Saturday because Dundee United play and open and expansive game. They have great pace in the final third and the counter-attacking football they play is excellent.
"With the likes of Stuart Armstrong and Nadir Ciftci in the team they will feel confident of posing a real threat. They also have a few really good youngsters and credit to Jackie and his staff for the way Aiden Connolly and Charlie Telfer have progressed in the past few months. Again, I'm sure neither lad would be fazed by the big occasion.
"The quality ion both sides makes it really difficult to predict a winner. I really can't call it, it's so close.
"I'm just pleased to see both clubs on the up and making such a positive impact in Scottish football. I enjoyed my playing days at both clubs and wish them well in this game. The winner of this semi will have every right to fancy their chances of lifting the trophy."
