Lee Wallace, the Rangers full-back, has questioned his Scotland future after he was overlooked for the squad that faced Australia at Easter Road last night.

The left-back has only been an intermittent presence for the national team but was still left disappointed that Craig Levein did not call him up for the final friendly before the World Cup qualifying campaign begins.

The 25-year-old accepts Levein's initial assertion that players in the third division are not playing at a high enough level to be considered for Scotland duty but the controversial inclusion of Rangers team-mate Ian Black may have had Wallace posing questions about his own omission.

His last involvement was as an unused substitute in Scotland's 5-1 defeat by the United States in May. "I'm a bit disappointed not to have been called in but that's just life," said Wallace. "I'll take it on the chin and if I'm not involved, I'm not involved.

"I've got respect for the manager and I'm never going to come out and say anything against him. I do buy into the fact that when you're playing in the third division, you're going to be a bit off the level and the standard required. I agree with that.

"I don't know about [his future prospects with Scotland] really. After what has happened in the last couple of days, I do question that. But just now, it's all about Rangers.

"That's how I'm approaching things and we've got a massive season ahead on this adventure of ours. I want to help the club try to move forward."
