Walter's men will win out

IT is a game of cat and mouse right now but there is only going to be one winner in the stand-off over the ownership of Rangers.

Charles Green and his colleagues may have bought the club's assets but the consortium of Walter Smith, Jim McColl and Douglas Park has so much power behind it that it will eventually oust them.

Whether it is through players pushing their entitlement to leave for free through the courts or fans saying they won't buy season tickets, the last thing the Ibrox side need is for there to be less than universal support as they start life as a newco. Green won't budge for a while, and Walter's consortium might have to meet them somewhere in the middle, but I am sure Rangers fans want to start the newco with the right people in charge. It is not so much asking Green to step aside any more, but about him selling for the right price.
