Jackie McNamara, the Dundee United manager, is confident that his players can ruin the occasion when Ronny Deila takes his bow at Celtic Park tomorrow.

The Celtic manager has still to take charge at his club's home stadium as it was in use during the Commonwealth Games.

He will take his seat in the home dugout for the first time tomorrow when the SPFL Premiership title flag is unfurled ahead of a match with current league leaders United. The Tannadice side have taken maximum points from their opening two league matches, against first Aberdeen and then Motherwell.

That has imbued United with confidence as they prepare to take on the champions and McNamara has faith in his players to maintain their impressive early form when they face the champions in Glasgow.

"It will be a different type of test again," said the United manager. "Celtic will come and attack us so it's important we work hard as a team and try to cause them problems in return. I think we've got the players to do that.

"I thought we were unfortunate last year when we drew 1-1 there in November and we had a chance to go 2-0 in front, with just 10 minutes to go. It will obviously be difficult because it always is through there. The expectations are on them to perform and they will be unfurling the flag as well at the weekend. This is their first home game back at Parkhead under their new manager.

"So we're going to go there and try to spoil it for them. There is expectation at Celtic from day one. I think Ronny [Deila] will know that by now. After the Champions League games, he'll know what to expect. He will know how many people follow them and what they demand."

United's demands are more modest given that the club have not won in a match away to Celtic since Boxing Day 1992, when Duncan Ferguson's solitary strike earned them all three points. "Records are there to be broken," McNamara added. "They are broken all the time. It will happen. It is inevitable and we just have to go there and do our best and hopefully we can do it."
