ALLAN McGREGOR'S expected return to these shores has moved a step closer after reports emerged in Turkey linking the Scotland goalkeeper with West Ham United.

The 31-year-old has just completed his first season with Besiktas, after moving to the Turkish club from Rangers last summer. Yet despite having a year left on his contract, it is thought the Istanbul outfit are willing to sell McGregor should they receive an offer in the region of £2m.

The Scot was criticised this term as Besiktas finished third, 13 points behind champions Galatasaray, and hinted that he could leave. "I have loved playing at our stadium and I have enjoyed my season in Turkish football," he said. "I have one more year left on my contract and I am still a Besiktas player. But in football, everything can change and there could be other issues that are out of my control."
