Jim Jefferies has started building for next season at Dunfermline, signing a former Liverpool youth player on a pre-contract.
Alex Whittle, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder, will join the Fife club on a three-year deal.
He was invited to Dunfermline on trial and impressed the manger in a midweek bounce game against Livingston.
Whittle had been with the Nike Football Academy, a group of unattached players who play in trial games throughout the UK, after being freed by the Anfield club last year.
