MARIUS ZALIUKAS, the former Hearts captain, trained with Rangers yesterday in an effort to win a contract with the League One leaders.

The Lithuanian centre-back, who made more than 200 appearances for Hearts over a period of seven years, left Tynecastle after the club went into administration.

Ally McCoist, the Rangers manager, has been seeking to add to his defence, which has just been boosted by the registration of Bilel Mohsni.

Talks regarding a deal with Bosnian centre-back Boris Pandza, though, have stalled. McCoist also remains keen on bringing another striker to Ibrox to bolster his attacking options.
