PAMELA PRETSWELL moved into the hunt for a maiden win on the Ladies European Tour during round two of the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open.

On a good for the Scots, which saw all eight home hopefuls safely through to the weekend, Pretswell posted a four-under 67 for a seven-under 135 and was sitting in a share of second place, just a stroke behind halfway leader, Nuria Iturrioz.

Pretswell’s compatriot, Kylie Henry, came barging up into the fringes of the top-10 with a shimmering 64 which was 11 shots better than her opening round.

Henry, a two-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, was seven-under for her last 10 holes during a profitable burst that included an eagle and five birdies. Henry hauled herself up into a share of 14th on a three-under tally and was joined on that mark by fellow Scots, Gemma Dryburgh and Sally Watson.

On the men’s European circuit, meanwhile, Richie Ramsay was leading the home challenge in the weather-delayed Shenzen International after a four-under 68 left him with a seven-under 137.

That left the Aberdonian five shots behind clubhouse leader, Bernd Wiesberger, who shot a 65 and was leading the field by four when storms brought play to a halt

Wiesberger had returned to the Genzon Golf Club course on Friday morning to complete his delayed opening round and, after resuming, he birdied the 17th en route to a 67 that saw him move within one of the lead.

He then picked up seven more shots in the second round to complete the day on 12-under.

On the second-tier Challenge Tour, Scottish rookie, Grant Forrest, surged into a share of eighth on day two of the Turkish Airlines Challenge in Belek with a six-under 66 for a nine-under 135. The former Scottish Amateur champion was sitting four shots behind the Finnish leader, Tappio Pulkkanen.

Blairgowrie’s Bradley Neil came charging up the field to safely make the cut on a six-under total with a fine 64 which included a birdie, birdie, eagle finish.

On the amateur scene, Aboyne’s Shannon McWilliam, fresh from a share of second in last week’s Scottish Girls’ Open, is in the mix again after round one of the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Strokeplay Championship at Troon Portland.

McWilliam’s three-under 69 left her just a shot behind the German leader, Alexandra Forsterling. Olivia Winning, the defending champion from Rotherham, opened with a one-under 71.
